August First

In the midst of life
change begins.
Signaling the end
sunflowers sing it.
Morning glories linger into the afternoon,
soaking up more rays.
Time seems to pass slowly.
The eternal and the temporary
Mingle in the August sunshine.

  1. I love this, Tasha. My son is growing sunflowers and they are yet to bloom, although they are about 8 feet tall by now! I can’t wait to see them. In previous years, we had morning glories which would twine around the stalks of the sun flowers. They started to invade the entire yard and choked all our sunflowers last year, so this year we cut back on them… It is a lovely combination though, that you did beautiful justice in your poem. Peace.
